What They Saw
In every region, women had a relationship with their skin that predated any lab. It wasn't skincare. It was knowledge, passed down, refined over centuries, tested on real skin across real generations.
Prickly pear seed oil cold-pressed by cooperatives in southern Morocco. Fermented botanicals used in Japanese ritual for hundreds of years. Black soap made from ancient olive traditions in West Africa, part of a cleansing ritual that never needed a rebrand.
The siblings weren't impressed by the exotic. They were impressed by the evidence.
The Question Nobody Was Asking
Every time they came home, they found the same problem. These ingredients existed in the market: diluted, buried, symbolic.
A trace amount on a label. A beautiful story with nothing behind it. They asked one question: what if you kept the ingredient as tradition understood it, and used biotechnology to make it work harder?
